Kristien Sonnevijlle
Kristien Sonnevijlle is a dancer/vocalist working mainly as instant composer on projects with musicians and site specific work. Her background is in physical theater, mask work, contact improvisation and more recent Subbody Butoh with a Japanese master in the Indian Himalaya's. Since graduating from HKU theater school Kristien has worked as a theater director, teacher, performer. From 2009 on mainly as a dancer/vocalist, performing on the streets, in museums, backyards, livingrooms, trees, homes for the elderly, basements... Solo as well as in collaboration with musicians, dancers, visual artists and film makers.
Currently she has a duet with violinist Dolan Jones and works with the DAMU collective of instant composition. An active member of the Young Blood Initiative artist collective which creates 2 monthly interdisciplinary events. She is a vocalist in the Genetic Choir, the Amsterdam improvisation choir, since it started in 2007. She loves to share the work not only as a performer but also as a curator, a creator of long retreats with movement and voice and in her work with the artists of De Witte Olifant, an atelier for people with learning disabilities.
